In 2000 we changed our focus to breeding gaited horses of appaloosa patterning and in 2004 moved the herd to our new location in Georgia. We register the appaloosa patterned gaited horses as Spanish Jennets and as Walkaloosa Horses. Atigrado Acres breeding goals (and results) include:

| The Spanish Jennet was a horse of the Middle
ages that was preferred mount of the gentry because of its hardy constitution
and smooth, ambling gaits. Spanish Jennet came in both a pinto pattern
and the patterns associated with the modern day Appaloosa. Bright color
patterns only added to the prestige of this type of horse, much like a
custom paint job on a car does today. The Spanish Jennet was a gaited horse
Over the centuries the gaits of the Jennet were passed down into what became
the Paso breeds, naturally transmitted from one generation to the next.
The Spanish Jennet
as a breed has been lost in recent history. The
Spanish Jennet Horse Society is actively gathering the existing horses
from within primarily the Paso Fino breed to reestablish the true Spanish
Jennet in Modern Times.
The Spanish Jennet is either Pintado or Atigrado. The Pintado is the Pinto Paso or Pinto Paso Fino. The Atigrado is the Paso Tiger Horse (Lp or Appaloosa patterns). We have chosen to concentrate on the Atigrado, thus renaming our farm Atigrado Acres. Here at Atigrado Acres we are in the unique
position of having two of the premier Atigrado Stallions to utilize in
reestablishing the Spanish Jennet, Encore AA and Standing Ovation AA. Both
of these stallions have proven themselves with the quality of offspring
they have produced. We also have a young, up and coming stallion, Dream
Catcher AA. We offer these stallions at public stud to allow breeders to
become part of the foundation of a breed. These stallions exhibit "High
Color" in the Lp pattern, enabling them to transmit the Lp gene to their
offspring a high percentage of the time. They exhibit the Paso gaits, and
sound, healthy and of exceptional temperament. We invite you to join us
in returning the Spanish Jennet to its rightful position as the premier
mount of those who appreciate fine horses.
