| She is not registered with PFHA, I stopped doing that some time ago - many reasons having nothing to do with this mare as an individual. She is out of registered stock, but no PFHA papers - the same as most of the other mares. She was started as a 3 year old and had about 90 days - she was a bit of a handful in the initial training, but did settle. She has not been ridden since then. She is a bit thin right now, just weaned her 2008 Molly and she pulled her pretty bad in the last 30 days. Jewel was started to saddle as a 3 1/2 year old, ridden for 3 months and then we moved from Ohio to GA and she basically became a pasture potato. Jewel is very well gaited, but since that has been some time since she was ridden I would not consider her broke to ride. She has just been a broodmare. She is open this year, as that molly really pulled her weight wise in the last 30 days and I did not breed her back - wanted to get her weight back up. She has always foaled easily, has all the broodmare manners - catching, tying, feet handling, shots etc. She allows you to handle her foals with no issue and is a great mom. |
